As video games have gotten more and more ambitious with their stories and action, developers have started to turn to established Hollywood stars to give their games an added boost.
But not every well-known actor is easy to spot by their voice alone – and sometimes, the events that put them in the game to begin with are hard to believe. Here are Screen Rant’s 10 Actors You Didn’t Know Were in Video Games. Michael Fassbender - Fable 3 The fantasy game series had turned to plenty of English film and TV stars for voices, but with Fable 3, they swung for the fences. Before he became a household name and Oscar-nominated actor, Michael Fassbender was brought on to voice Logan, the game’s villain https://uscasinosguide.com/best-casino-bonuses/. He’d soon launch to the top of the American box office playing Magneto in the X-Men universe – along with his Fable co-star, Nicholas Hoult. Matthew Perry - Fallout: New Vegas There’s nothing game fans love more than finding out one of their favorite actors is a closet gamer. So when Friends star Matthew Perry was promoting his film “17 Again” back in 2009, he had to admit that his love of open world RPG Fallout 3 had literally crippled him. The developers took notice, and invited him to voice the character of Benny, one of the antagonists of their upcoming shooter, New Vegas. Who says being addicted to video games can’t take you places? Haley Joel Osment - Kingdom Hearts After the success of The Sixth Sense and Pay it Forward, actor Haley Joel Osment was an overnight sensation. Unfortunately, that level of fame didn’t last for his entire film career. But he’s never faded from the memory of Nintendo fans. He was first called on to voice the hero of Kingdom Hearts in English versions of the game at the age of 14, and has kept up the role ever since, spanning across 9 games over the course of a decade. He may not stay a teenage forever, but his voice can try. Dennis Hopper and Billy Bob Thornton - Deadly Creatures A Nintendo Wii game letting people play as a deadly scorpion or tarantula might sound odd, but the voice talents signed for Deadly Creatures is even more surprising. Dennis Hopper and Billy Bob Thornton starred as two humans in search of gold who wind up tangling with the game’s tiny heroes instead. The game proved to be a surprising success, but it’s still not the usual storyline audiences expect from two Oscar-winning writers. Susan Sarandon - Dishonored It's not every day that an Oscar winning actress accepts a supporting role in a triple-A video game, but when the makers of Dishonored needed a voice to bring the mysterious, ragged aristocrat Granny Rags to life, one actress seemed the perfect choice: Susan Sarandon.

When you're that close to the screen and the objective of the device is to make you feel as though you're actually in the experience, it really intensifies the effects. With the Rift, James has seen even people who don't usually suffer from simulation sickness starting to feel ill.
Now the Oculus is awesome for vehicular experiences like flying a starfighter, but companies that James has worked with that are trying to do things like put you in the boots of a soldier are actively working to solve this problem. And if the Oculus has any real market success, it'll become a major design question. it's also an open question with tablet devices. I've heard lots of reports of people experiencing some form of simulation sickness while trying to use a tablet in a moving vehicle. And so, as the prevalence of tablets increases, and as the experience on our mobile devices becomes more immersive, it's going to be something that we have to understand how to design around. It's not an impossible task, And many more solutions will be found in the future. The folks at Oculus are already working on ways to mitigate simulation sickness with the device, and many game companies are experimenting with settings or options that will help reduce its effects. Hopefully by this time next year, w e'll be able to do a follow-up episode about all the design solutions to this problem. But for right now, all we can do is look for those solutions and try to find ways as players to make this problem more bearable. For those of you looking for a place to start with this, or looking to better understand how to design around it, I recommend looking at the camerawork in Journey. In general, you'll find simulation sickness is less of a problem in Journey because its third-person camera is more distant from the character, but James spent an evening talking to one of their experienced designers about how much effort they put into making sure the game caused as little simulation sickness as possible. Probably worth studying the results. With examples like these, and all the work that's being done at game companies across the globe, hopefully everyone will be able to enjoy gaming without such ill effects soon. See you next week. I know this sounds odd, but it's one of the few things that most of the research we found seems to agree on. People using dimmer screens experience less simulation sickness, even if simulation sickness was something they were often prone to.
Third: if the games settings allow it, try adjusting the game's field of view (or FoV) settings. Some PC gamers have found that a wider field of view setting can help to reduce feelings of nausea in first-person games. When you're playing games on A PC and sitting that close to the play screen, adjusting the amount of in-game peripheral vision can sometimes make a big difference. Fourth: turn down your lights. The findings on this one are a bit fuzzy, but I've seen some suggest that playing in a dark environment can help. Fifth: limit your playtime. I know it's hard when you're totally immersed in a game, but if you can keep playtime down to about 20 minutes or so at a stretch before taking a short break, the effects shouldn't be quite as bad. Sixth: avoid caffeine. Now this one I only found one resource for, and the sample presented wasn't enough to be a definitive exploration of the effects of caffeine on simulation sickness. But I'm going to mention it anyway, just in case some of you find that it helps. Caffeine is a stimulant and a vasoconstrictor, so who knows. Maybe it can mess with your inner ear. And finally Seventh, I also saw a number of anecdotes about how Dramamine or other over-the-counter anti-motion sickness medicines helps to alleviate the effects, But I don't know how comfortable I'd be taking anything that comes in the form of a pill so I could play video games. Still, some people say that can help. Hopefully, some of those suggestions will be of use to those of you who are dealing with these symptoms or trying to help others do so. So why do we bring up all of this now? Well, in part it's because more people than ever are picking up games as adults, and so didn't get to acclimatize to simulation sickness when they were young. But it's also because James has been doing a fair bit of work with developers working with the Oculus Rift, and simulation sickness is something that becomes much more pronounced on head-mounted devices like that. Hi, Chris Berte with Signet Financial Management in south west Florida. I have a confession to make, I bought a ticket. Now I'm a financial planner and I specialize in investments so I should know better than to buy a lottery ticket right. But in all fairness I didn't buy it thinking I was gonna win 1.6 billion dollars. In fact they say the odds of winning that were one in 320,000,000 which is the equivalent of rolling a one and a six on a di 11 times in a row.
So why'd I buy a ticket? Well this little $2.00 investment gave me entertainment value in my head. I got to visualize what I'd be able to do with the money; being able to take care of my family for future generations, retiring early, doing fun things like traveling or maybe just buy a new fancy car I don't know, things like that. But at the end of the day I knew I wasn't gonna win, this is just gambling. But it also got me thinking about something else I hear quite often unfortunately, which is people comparing investing to gambling https://oncasinogames.com/canada/ . So let's define gambling. If you were to look up in the dictionary, you'd get the definition, taking a risky action in the hope of getting a desired result. So with that definition, really anything can be considered risky right, even driving. Think about it, when you drive, your desired result is to get to your destination but the risk is you can get in an accident. So what do you do? You take steps to decrease your risk that your going to get an accident. And what's the first thing you do? Well you increase your knowledge base, you learn how to drive, you learn how to operate a car, you learn the rules of the road and you do that by going to an expert that already knows how to do it so that they can show you how. Then you get the tools that you need, you pick a dependable vehicle that you know is gonna keep you and your family safe, you get a GPS, you research your routes so you know where you're going. And then you work to fine tune your risk even further; you pick a safe route, you don't go off road, you obey the traffic rules and just in case the worse thing happens and you do get an accident, you wear a seatbelt. So finally, the greatest teacher of them all; experience, you eventually learn how to anticipate when someone else wants to get over or identify when someone else is driving aggressively so you in turn drive defensively. When I was 16 years old and I was just learning to drive I like to think I had a much greater risk now after 31 years of driving. But you never eliminate risk entirely do you, it's always there, you can get an accident anytime, you're just taking the appropriate steps to put the odds in your favor so that you decrease the possibility that you will. Now it's just like investing. So the first thing you do with investing is you determine what your destination is. What are you investing for? Do you wanna grow your investments for retirement? Are you looking at producing an income stream? Is it simple capital preservation? Some kind of combination thereof, I don't know. But just like driving you start taking steps to decrease your risk so that you can reach your destination. Now what's the first thing you do? You get the proper knowledge; you invest in what you think is gonna help you reach your goal. What time frame do you need to do it in? What happens when the market goes down? How do you hedge your portfolio? Then you get the proper tools; are you gonna use stocks, bonds, ETFs, mutual funds, some kind of derivative like options or futures, some kind of combination. Are you gonna use a taxable or tax deferred account to manage tax liability? There's a lot of moving parts to consider. But then you work to fine tune and reduce your risk even further by properly diversifying your account, asset allocating and getting the proper ratio of equity to fixed income. And just in case the worse thing happens and the market pulls back you hedge your portfolio to protect yourself. And finally, the greatest teacher of them all; experience. You eventually learn how to read market cycles, interpret how things like news events, interest rates, earnings reports all affect the market. And when the market bullish or bearish, you know what to do. Now you never eliminate risk entirely, just like driving, it's always there, you can't avoid it you just have to learn how to put the odds in your favor so when the market goes down you've taken the appropriate steps to decrease the possibility that it's gonna take your investments down with it. Now maybe you don't know how to do all these things or maybe you just don't want to. It takes a lot of time and knowledge to mitigate risk properly. So then what you do is you find someone who does have the time, does have the knowledge and the experience to do it properly. And that's when you turn this into this. So thanks for watching, check us out on youtube or visit us on Facebook for more content around finance, retirement and the market. And thanks for watching, I hope to see you in the next video. Take Care. To be a champion blackjack or poker player a well planned blackjack strategy is required to be in place beforehand. The player who does not realize this would not be able to identify the problem associated with their poor performance in the midst of a game.
It is just like when an author gets stuck in the story and has no clue on how to proceed to the next plot. Comparison can also be made to the motor drivers stuck in a traffic jam from where there is no way out. It would have been a more prudent decision if a proper route was planned beforehand listening to the guidance from the radio traffic channels instead of blaming the traffic jam. If you hear the losing stories in poker you would invariably hear about the faulty playing where the player is repeating his misjudgment in order to rectify his earlier errors to a winning hand. The player would eventually get more trapped and be wiped out soon. One should be careful from the very beginning by not taking a daring move which could prove to be fatal in the early rounds of the game. A good player should considerately listen to others when they discuss their weakness or faults in their games. It would be often observed that the fault lies at the early stages of the game and is revealed profoundly with the gradual progression of the game. The champions regularly appraise their strengths, weaknesses and average playing abilities and improve upon all the three. There could be infinite amount of conditions and approach to a game to achieve great results but the main ploy depends on other phenomena of the human mind. The game selection or table selection is an essential skill required for the poker player. If a game can be selected according to the capability of the player the chances of winning increases manifold. But that is not the key to success as mentioned earlier Actually it is not the quantitative ability or the ability to anticipate opposition move or a game selection or a full proof strategy but it is the strength of character which is the main key to success. It would depend upon the perception of a player whether he would play above his bankroll. If he does not then he could not even think of playing Texas hold’em where the limits are infinite. After some rounds of play he could also even start to tilt or can play continuously losing every round. The game is not all about that. A sound preparation beforehand and knowing the opponent becomes vital. It may even take months to prepare a sound strategy or to set up the mental frame work. How much could you afford for bankroll is also a vital point to be determined beforehand. With a clear objective and a thorough fundamental base one could overcome the down- and- out performance of a day and have that mental ability to turn around the next day. All the emotional aspects like passion, excitement should be kept well within control. Every action during the game should be an outcome of a solid preparation and strategy. The skill sets, strategies, methods, mind control all of these should be well coordinated by a champion poker player. The knowledge and principles accumulated over time should be applied aptly to every situation that may arise then only whose would be converted to winning strategies. Thus the methods undertaken coupled with strength of mind would let you master the skills required to be a champion poker player in your own terms. Playing poker has really changed, in recent years. That's mainly do to the addition of Internet poker rooms. People have really taken to the idea of playing poker online. It's quick, easy and convenient, after all.
Online poker also offers a lot of variety. There are free games, micro limits, high limits, various cash game and tournament types and more. One of the big things drawing people to play online is the variety of games, though. Here's a brief overview of some of them. Texas Holdem Poker: You've probably heard of, or even played, Texas Holdem. It is, after all, the most televised version of poker. In it, each player gets two cards and five community cards are also dealt, with betting rounds in between. The person who makes the best five card hand out of the seven cards available to them wins. Most people are aware of the no-limit betting style of Texas Holdem. Online, though, there are several other ways to play the game. For instance, you might try playing pot limit or fixed limit Holdem. Just be careful, since the limits involved can definitely have an effect on the way the game is played. 7-Card Stud: In 7-Card Stud, unlike in Hold'em, there are no community cards. Each player starts out with three cards. Two cards are face down and one is face up, so everyone can see. There are betting rounds between the dealing of each new card, until the players each have seven cards, 3 of which are face down and four are face up. Each player is, of course, allowed to look at their down cards as they get them. The object is, as in Hold'em, to make the best hand of five cards out of the seven. The interesting thing about 7-Card is that it also has a hi/lo version. In the hi/lo version, the player with the best hand splits the pot with the player with the lowest hand. Omaha: Omaha poker games are a great way for players who enjoy Holdem to add a new level to their game. I say that because the game setup is like Hold'em, except that each player gets four hole cards, not two. There are still five community cards and the object is to use exactly two of the four hole cards and three community cards to make the best hand. Omaha can be even more interesting depending on what version you play. There are both limit and no-limit versions. There's also a hi/lo version, as with 7-Card Stud. So, you can really customize your game choice to your own preferences. Other Games: Online poker possibilities don't stop at just those games either. For example, you might choose to play 5-Card Draw poker. That's a version where each player is dealt five cards and can choose to exchange some or all cards between betting rounds. You might also enjoy Razz or obscure or unusual games, like Caribbean Stud. Whatever your poker choice is, though, one thing is for sure. You can always find a game running at some online poker room. I never really thought I would get COD, but after getting the COD 5 Zombies app on my iPod, I thought I would, for the zombies. After playing it, though, I really enjoyed it. I like the concept of the zombies, and it's really good fun, although I hope there are going to be more maps after Ascension, because three isn't really enough. The online is good aswell, with a huge range of game modes and maps.
I personally never really liked Black Ops multiplayer. The concept of the killstreaks, the different game modes, and the custom classes, and a new addition with Black Ops, Theater mode, but, unlike my current favourite first person shooter, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, it lacks realism. I was able to enjoy a good few weeks on multiplayer, but after that I quickly got bored. The Black Ops maps are too small, the weapons are too advanced for a game set in the vietnam war, and the in-game sounds are not quite right, to name a few things. These are a few reasons why I prefer the Zombies mode. Firstly, it is just more fun than playing multiplayer. Also, weirdly, there is more of an objective. I know that in multiplayer there are various different game modes and objectives, but in Zombies mode there is something to work for, the entire time. The whole aspect of 4 players fighting to survive for as long as possible is a really great idea Call Of Duty have come up with, and in my opinion, is the best idea that they have come up with. There is also a story-line behind Zombies, but I won't go into that, but do look it up. There was a lot of complaining when Black Ops first came out that it wasn't as good as Modern Warfare 2, and, although I have only played MW2 a few times, I agree with. The level of graphic have pretty much stayed the same since MW2, and the gameplay is also very similar. All in all, Treyarch could have done a lot more with this game. I personally am not a huge CoD fan, but other people with different views may think otherwise that this game could have been better. My rating, therefore, is going to be 7/10.
